October is here, the evenings are getting darker and the cooler autumn weather has arrived. It’s also a good time to think about looking after your body as we head into the colder months.

As the temperature drops, many people find that muscles and joints can feel stiffer, particularly first thing in the morning. Less daylight can also mean we become less active, spending more time indoors and sitting for longer periods.

Simple things can make a difference. Try to keep moving throughout the day, avoid staying in one position for too long and make sure you wrap up warmly when heading outside. A short daily walk can be beneficial for both your joints and general wellbeing.

If you’ve noticed that an old ache or pain is starting to return, or you’re experiencing stiffness or discomfort that is affecting your everyday activities, October can be a good time to get it checked rather than allowing it to become a bigger problem.
