☀️ How to Take Care of Your Body in the Heat – Chiropractic Tips for Hot Weather

With temperatures soaring this week, it’s not just your energy levels that might be feeling the heat — your body, joints, and spine can also be affected more than you realise. At Back To Normal Chiropractic Clinic I want to help you stay cool, safe, and aligned during this heatwave.

🔥 Why Hot Weather Can Affect Your Body

While warm temperatures can sometimes ease joint stiffness, excessive heat can also lead to fatigue, dehydration, and inflammation — especially for those with chronic pain or arthritis. You may notice more discomfort, muscle cramps, or headaches when your body is overheating or lacking hydration.

🌀 Common Complaints During Hot Spells:

  • Increased joint pain and swelling (especially in knees, hips, and spine)

  • Headaches from dehydration or tension

  • Poor posture due to fatigue or trying to "slump" to keep cool

  • Dizziness or balance issues, especially in older patients

✅ Top Chiropractic Tips for Staying Well in the Heat:

  1. Hydrate Properly – Water helps cushion your spinal discs and flush out inflammatory toxins. Aim for small, frequent sips throughout the day.

  2. Use Cool Packs – If you’re experiencing back or joint flare-ups, a cool (not ice-cold) pack on the affected area can help ease inflammation.

  3. Keep Moving Gently – Avoid intense exercise in the heat, but do some gentle stretching or walking indoors to keep your joints mobile.

  4. Be Aware of Posture – Hot weather can lead to “slouchy” posture — especially if you’re sitting near fans or air conditioning. Set a reminder to realign yourself every 30–60 minutes.

  5. Limit Heat Exposure – Try to stay indoors during peak heat hours (11am–3pm) and wear breathable clothing if you're out.

🧘 Chiropractic Can Help

If you’re struggling with aches, stiffness, or tension headaches in the heat, a gentle A McTimoney chiropractic adjustment can help realign your body, improve circulation, and ease discomfort. It's also a great way to reset your posture if you've been wilting in the heat!

Stay Cool, Stay Aligned Your comfort and wellbeing matter — even more so when the weather turns extreme. If you need advice, support, or an adjustment, I'm here to help.
